Lifeplus International – Cookie Policy
Lifeplus International is committed to protect your personal information and data while you are visiting our website to ensure that you can fully enjoy your visit. In order to operate our website we temporarily collect personal data as well as use cookies to give you the best possible browsing experience. The use of cookies also helps use to enhance our understanding of how you use our website which gives us a chance to adapt our services to create an even better experience for you in the future.
Please read the following Cookie Policy carefully before you start using our website. We also recommend that you check the Cookie Policy each time you visit this site in case something has changed since your last visit.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, which a website transmits to the cookie file on the hard drive of the electronic device when the user accesses certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognize a user’s device and therefore to remember who you are. However, cookies cannot read any personal information on your electronic device; they simply unlock the electronic device memory and allow a website to recognize you when you revisit a website.
There are two different types of cookies; so-called session or persistent cookies which enable your device to either remember information for the duration of your visit on the website (session cookies) or for repeat visits (persistent cookies). Session cookies are deleted from your device once you leave the website. Persistent cookies remain in a subfolder on your browser; a further visit to the website which originally placed the cookies on your electronic device will activate the cookie again. Persistent cookies remain on your electronic device for a specific time. The exact duration of these cookies is viewable in the cookie’s file stored in a subfolder of your browser.
Cookies are also distinguished into three different necessity levels. Firstly, so-called strictly necessary cookies, which are strictly necessary to enable you to move about the site or to provide certain features you have requested. This type of cookie cannot be disabled. Secondly, functionality cookies are used, which are cookies that enhance the functionality of a website by storing your preferences. For example, these cookies allow us to remember your language preferences or your user name on the Lifeplus website. Thirdly, performance cookies, which help to improve the performance of the website and provide a better user experience. These cookies do not collect information which could identify you. All information these cookies gather is anonymous and is only used to improve how our website works.
Cookies are also differentiated into ‘First Party Cookies’ and ‘Third Party Cookies’. Whether a cookie is a first party or a third party cookie refers to the website or domain which places the cookie. First party cookies are placed by the website the user actually visits and third party cookies are cookies which are set by a domain other than the one visited by the user. For more information about cookies please visit the following link: http://www.allaboutcookies.org/.
How does Lifeplus use cookies?
We place cookies on your device to improve your browsing experience on our website. The following list tells which cookies we currently use on our website:
Cookie | Name | Purpose |
Lifeplus.com | PHPSESSID | The PHPSESSID cookie is native to PHP and enables websites to store serialised state data. On the Action website it is used to establish a user session and to pass state data via a temporary cookie, which is commonly referred to as a session cookie. As the PHPSESSID cookie has no timed expiry, it disappears when the client is closed. |
Lifeplus.com | PHPSECID | The PHPSECID cookie is a persistent cookie added by Lifeplus.com to store additional security context during the login process to the secured portion of the website. This cookie utilizes a unique ID that aids in the customer identification and simplifies the customer’s login process. If the cookie is deleted, the customer will be required to provide additional security context in order to gain access to the secured pages of the website. |
Lifeplus.com | cookieNotice | The cookieNotice cookie is used to track whether a visitor has dismissed the cookie notice. |
Lifeplus.com | wpCategory | wpCategory contains the currently-selected category on pages that contain categorized links to Lifeplus website content. |
Google Analytics | We use Google Analytics on our website. The cookies placed by Google Analytics are used to collect information about how our visitors use our site. This gives us a chance to improve our website for you. The Google Analytics cookies collect information in an anonymous form.
_utma | This cookie is typically written to the browser upon the first visit to your site from that web browser. If the cookie has been deleted by the browser operator, and the browser subsequently visits your site, a new _utma cookie is written with a different unique ID. This cookie is used to determine unique visitors to your site and it is updated with each page view. Additionally, this cookie is provided with a unique ID that Google Analytics uses to ensure both the validity and accessibility of the cookie as an extra security measure.
_utmb | This cookie is used to establish and continue a user session with your site. When a user views a page on your site, the Google Analytics code attempts to update this cookie. If it does not find the cookie, a new one is written and a new session is established. Each time a user visits a different page on your site, this cookie is updated to expire in 30 minutes, thus continuing a single session for as long as user activity continues within 30-minute intervals. This cookie expires when a user pauses on a page on your site for longer than 30 minutes. You can modify the default length of a user session with the _setSessionCookieTimeout method.
_utmc | This cookie is no longer used by the ga.js tracking code to determine session status.
_utmz | This cookie stores the type of referral used by the visitor to reach your site, whether via a direct method, a referring link, a website search, or a campaign such as an ad or an email link. It is used to calculate search engine traffic, ad campaigns and page navigation within your own site. The cookie is updated with each page view to your site. |
Links to other websites on our website
We also have a few third party links on our website that may place cookies on your electronic device when clicking on them. Examples of these links are the buttons for visiting social media websites such as Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. Please note that our Cookie Policy does not cover the links within our website linking to third party websites. We strongly encourage you to read the privacy statements and policies on the other websites you visit through links on our website. Please read the following paragraphs carefully about links from third parties we have on our website for more information.
YouTube button
Our official videos are also viewable via the YouTube button on our website. How does this work? We embed videos from our official YouTube channel using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode for embedded videos to make all our videos available to you with only one click on our website. This mode restricts YouTube's ability to set cookies for a user who views a web page that contains a privacy-enhanced YouTube embedded video player, but does not click the video to begin playback. However, YouTube may still set cookies on your electronic device once you click on the YouTube video player, but YouTube will not store personally identifiable cookie information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy-enhanced mode. You can find more information at http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=171780 .
Facebook Share button
Our website integrates a Share button for the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The button shows the Facebook logo. The Facebook Share button allows a user to share content from our website to Facebook.
A direct link between your browser and the Facebook server is only created when you click the Facebook Share button. Facebook receives the information that you have visited this page with your IP address. When you click on the Facebook Share button while you are logged into your Facebook account, you can link the content of our pages with your Facebook profile. This way Facebook can allocate the visit of these pages to your user account. We do not receive any information from Facebook about the data sent or its use. Further information is available from Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy .
Twitter Tweet button
Our website also includes a Twitter Tweet button. This function is offered by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St, Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. By using Twitter and its Tweet button, the websites visited by you are linked to your Twitter account and published to other users. Data is also transferred to Twitter.
We do not receive any information from Twitter about the content of the data sent or its use. Further information is available from Twitter at http://twitter.com/privacy.
You can change your data protection settings on Twitter in your account settings under http://twitter.com/account/settings ändern.
Search Engine
We also use a search engine on our website which is designed to be as powerful and easy to use as a popular search engine like Google or Yahoo. To make the search tool available, we use a piece of hardware, called a search “appliance”, which is a Lifeplus custom engine that is plugged into our server and continuously indexes the content on our website. Every search request is handled by the search tool appliance and the information is not forwarded to any third party.
What can I do to control cookies?
